Some themes tuck search away — a tiny icon in the header, or nothing at all on mobile. The floating search button puts a persistent magnifying glass on every page, so visitors can search from wherever they’ve scrolled to. It’s off by default; switch it on when your theme’s own search isn’t pulling its weight.

When It’s Useful
- Your theme has no search box at all, or hides it on smaller screens
- Long content pages where scrolling back to a header search is a chore
- You’d like search available everywhere without editing your theme or templates
It’s a frontend feature only — nothing appears in the admin, and visitors who never click it just see one small, unobtrusive button.

Turning It On
- Go to Tracksies > Settings > Features
- On the Fetchie tile, switch on Floating search button
That’s the whole activation. Position and spacing are adjusted separately, on Fetchie’s own Settings tab.

Position and Offset
On Tracksies > Fetchie > Settings:
- Floating search position — where the button sits: Right side, Left side, Bottom right, or Bottom left
- Floating search edge offset — distance in pixels from the screen edge (0 to 400). Useful when something else already lives in that corner — a chat bubble, a cookie banner, a back-to-top button — and you’d like Fetchie to budge over rather than overlap
Both settings apply the moment they’re saved; there’s nothing to rebuild.

What Visitors Experience
- A round button with a magnifying-glass icon floats at your chosen position on every page
- Click it and a compact search panel opens with the cursor already in the input — visitors can type immediately
- Submitting takes them to your site’s normal search results page, so everything on How search results work applies: ranking, snippets, jump links, your custom template if you have one
- Pressing Escape closes the panel and returns focus to the button
- Clicking the button again also closes the panel
The button is built to behave well for everyone: it’s a real button with a proper label for screen readers, the panel is keyboard-friendly, and the icon is drawn inline so nothing extra loads on your pages.

Styling
The button and panel pick up your brand colours and corner rounding from the Tracksies > Designer settings, same as the results page — no separate styling to maintain.
One independence note: the floating button submits to your site’s standard search URL, so it works whether Fetchie’s own results page is on or off. With the Google-style results page feature switched off, the button still searches — visitors just land on your theme’s (or builder’s) results layout instead.
