Email Sequences
Collect more reviews with automated multi-email sequences.
How It Works
Instead of a single review request, create a sequence of up to 4 emails:
- Initial Request (Day 7): Friendly ask for a review
- Follow-up 1 (Day 14): Gentle reminder if no review yet
- Follow-up 2 (Day 21): Final nudge
Smart Stop-on-Review
The key feature: sequences automatically stop when a customer leaves a review.
Before every email, Trustie checks if the customer has:
- Already reviewed any product from the order
- Unsubscribed from review requests
If either is true, remaining emails are cancelled. No annoying customers who’ve already helped you.
Email Templates
Each email in the sequence has its own editor where you control:
- Send After — days after order completion
- Subject line, heading, and body — with placeholder support
- Button text — customise the call-to-action
- Enable/disable — toggle individual emails on or off
All emails use your Brand Hub design (header, footer, colors).
See the full Email Sequences guide for setup details.

Enhanced Shortcodes
Pro adds extra parameters and features to existing shortcodes.
[trustie_reviews]
Key Pro parameters:
| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
columns | int | From Layout settings | Grid columns (1–3) |
limit | int | From Layout settings | Reviews per page |
show_response | bool | true | Show admin replies |
show_filters | bool | true | Show pill-style filter and sort controls |
show_photos | bool | true | Display review photos |
verified_only | bool | false | Only show verified purchases |
Pill-Style Filter & Sort UI
Reviews include a modern pill-based filter and sort interface, styled automatically with your Brand Hub Designer settings:
- Sort pills — Toggle between Newest and Oldest
- Star rating pills — Filter by exact star rating (1–5)
- Custom field pills — Any fields marked “filterable” or “demographic” in the Form Builder appear as additional filter groups
- Active filter tags — Visual tags showing active filters, removable with one click
- No results message — When filters return no matches, a friendly message is shown
All buttons and pills use your Designer’s button styles (colours, border radius) for a consistent look across your site.
Product Page Reviews Layout
Configure defaults for product page reviews in Settings > Layout:
- Reviews per page (1–50)
- Columns (1–3)
- Pagination style — Load More button or page numbers
These defaults apply unless overridden by shortcode parameters.
Card Layout (at the top of the Layout section) controls whether all review and testimonial cards render as a Grid (equal-height cards in rows and columns) or Masonry (variable-height cards that pack tight to their content). One setting, applies everywhere — product-page reviews, reviews page, Google reviews, testimonials, and the combined page. Override per-shortcode with the grid_layout attribute.

Extra Pro parameters:
| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
show_breakdown | bool | false | Show rating distribution bars |
style | string | compact | Display style: compact, expanded |

Custom Review Forms
Build custom review forms with extra fields tailored to your products.
Form Builder
Access at Trustie > Forms:
- Add fields (text, textarea, select, radio, checkbox, rating, scale, yes/no)
- Set field labels and options
- Mark fields as required or optional
- Set internal-only fields (not shown publicly)
- Mark fields as filterable (appears in filter bar)
- Mark fields as demographic (shows next to reviewer name)
Field Types
| Type | Description | Can be Demographic? | Can be Filtered? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Text | Single line input | No | No |
| Textarea | Multi-line input | No | No |
| Select | Dropdown options | Yes | Yes |
| Radio | Single choice buttons | Yes | Yes |
| Checkbox | Multiple choice | Yes | No |
| Rating | 1-5 star rating | No | Yes |
| Scale | 1-9 slider | Yes | No |
| Yes/No | Boolean toggle | Yes | Yes |
Demographic Fields
Mark a field as “demographic” to display it next to the reviewer’s name instead of in the review body. This is perfect for details like clothing size, skin type, age range, or fitness level — information that helps other customers find reviews from people like them.
Demographic fields:
- Show next to the reviewer’s name as compact labels (e.g. “Size: M · Height: 5’4–5’7”)
- Are automatically filterable — they appear as pill-style filter groups in the filter panel
- Don’t count toward the 4-field filterable limit
Example use cases: Usual Size, Skin Type, Age Range, Shoe Width, Fitness Level, Body Type
See the full Form Builder & Demographics guide for setup instructions, use case examples, and tips.
Internal Fields
Mark fields as “internal only” to:
- Collect data not shown publicly
- Gather feedback for internal use
- Ask follow-up questions
Form Assignment
Assign different forms to different products or categories. Your clothing products can ask about size and fit, while your skincare products ask about skin type — all automatically.
- All Products — Default form for everything
- Specific Products — Target individual products
- Product Categories — Apply to entire categories
- Site Reviews Only — For general store reviews
—
Photo Reviews
Let customers share photos with their reviews to build trust and showcase your products in real-world settings.
Upload & Optimization
- Customers can upload up to 5 photos per review
- Images are automatically resized (max 1200px) and compressed (85% JPEG quality) to keep your site fast
- Maximum file size: 5MB (configurable)
- Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP
Photo Lightbox
Review photos open in a beautiful, accessible lightbox:
- Keyboard navigation – Arrow keys to browse, Escape to close
- Touch friendly – Works great on mobile
- Accessible – Screen reader announcements, focus trapping, ARIA labels
- Respects motion preferences – Animations disabled for users who prefer reduced motion
Moderation
- Photos are uploaded with the review and follow the same moderation workflow
- Approved review photos cannot be deleted by the customer
- Admin can manage photos from the moderation dashboard

Spam Protection & Rate Limiting
Trustie Pro includes built-in protection against spam and abuse — no extra plugins required for basic protection.
What’s Included
- AJAX flood protection — Every public endpoint (reviews, testimonials, Q&A, votes, uploads) is rate-limited per IP
- Per-user review limits — Configurable limits on reviews per hour (default: 2), per day (default: 5), and per product (default: 1)
- Cooldown period — Minimum 2-minute gap between submissions
- Guest IP limits — Separate daily caps for guest submissions
- Nonce verification — All forms use WordPress nonces to prevent cross-site attacks
Configurable Settings
Adjust limits in Trustie > Settings > Spam Protection:
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Reviews per hour | 2 |
| Reviews per day | 5 |
| Reviews per product | 1 |
| Q&A per day | 10 |
| Cooldown (minutes) | 2 |
Recommended: Add CleanTalk
For content-based spam detection (checking whether review text is actually spam), we recommend adding CleanTalk (~$12/year). It works silently — no CAPTCHA for your customers. See the full Spam Protection guide for details.

SEO & Rich Results
Trustie Pro automatically outputs JSON-LD structured data so Google can display rich results (star ratings, review counts) in search results.
Schema Types
| Content | Schema Output |
|---|---|
| Google Reviews | LocalBusiness + AggregateRating + individual Reviews |
| Testimonials | Review with itemReviewed: LocalBusiness |
| Store Reviews | Review with itemReviewed: LocalBusiness |
| Review Photos | ImageObject via associatedMedia |
What This Means
- Star ratings in search results – Your Google rating can appear directly in search listings
- Review snippets – Individual reviews may show as rich snippets
- No configuration needed – Schema is output automatically when reviews are displayed
- Valid markup – Uses Google’s recommended JSON-LD format
Test your pages with Google’s Rich Results Test to verify.

Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)
Trustie Pro meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards, making your reviews accessible to all customers.
What This Means for Your Store
- Keyboard users can tab through all forms and controls with clearly visible focus indicators
- Screen reader users hear announcements when forms submit (success or error) and when reviews load
- All interactive buttons have descriptive labels (e.g., “Show Google reviews”, “Show product reviews”)
- Decorative elements (avatars, icons) are properly hidden from screen readers so they don’t clutter the experience
Why This Matters
- Legal compliance – Many regions require WCAG 2.1 AA for commercial websites
- Better for everyone – Accessible design improves usability for all visitors
- SEO benefit – Google considers accessibility in page experience signals
- Wider audience – 15% of the world’s population has some form of disability
All accessibility features work automatically – no configuration needed. Focus indicators even match your brand colours from the Designer.
