Google Sheets Export

Squizzie’s PDF reports are great for reading. But sometimes you need to dig deeper — sort the data differently, build your own charts, share a live spreadsheet with your accountant, or feed your business data into an AI tool for analysis.

Google Sheets export takes the data behind your Squizzie reports and puts it into a formatted, branded spreadsheet you can work with however you like.

Before You Start

Connect your Google account first. Sheets export uses the same Google connection as all other Squizzie integrations. If you haven’t set that up yet, start with the Google Integrations guide.

Enable the feature toggle. Go to Tracksies > Settings > Features, find the Squizzie tile, and make sure Google Sheets is toggled on.

No additional configuration is needed beyond the Google connection. Once you’re connected and the Sheets scope is authorised, export is ready to go.

Two Export Modes

On-Demand Export

Click Export to Sheets in the report viewer and Squizzie creates a new Google Sheets spreadsheet with your report data, right then and there. A link opens in a new tab.

This is useful when you want a one-off export to analyse a specific report, share data with someone, or do some ad-hoc number crunching.

Scheduled Export

When you set up a scheduled delivery, you can enable Export to Google Sheets alongside the PDF email. Each time the schedule runs, Squizzie appends new data to the same spreadsheet.

This is where the real power is. Over time, each scheduled run adds another row to your running log tabs, building a complete trend dataset automatically. After a few months of weekly reports, you’ll have a spreadsheet full of historical data you can chart and analyse.

What’s in the Spreadsheet

Each export creates multiple tabs in the spreadsheet, depending on what data sources your report includes:

Summary Tab

The first tab contains your key metrics in a clean layout — revenue, orders, average order value, sessions, conversion rate, and whatever else your report covers. Think of it as the highlights page.

Per-Source Tabs

Each data source in your report gets its own tab:

  • Orders — Revenue, order count, average order value, items sold, refund totals
  • Products — Top products by revenue and quantity
  • Customers — Customer counts, new vs returning, lifetime value metrics
  • Search Queries — Top search terms from Search Console with clicks, impressions, CTR, and position
  • Traffic Sources — Where your visitors come from, with session counts
  • Top Pages — Most-viewed pages from GA4
  • Business Profile — Profile views, calls, direction requests, website clicks
  • PageSpeed — Performance scores, Core Web Vitals, recommendations

Not every tab appears in every export — only the data sources included in your report will generate tabs.

Running Log Tabs

When exports run on a schedule with running logs enabled, Squizzie creates dedicated log tabs:

  • Revenue Log — Date, period, revenue, orders, AOV, items sold, refunds
  • Traffic Log — Date, sessions, users, page views, bounce rate
  • Search Log — Date, clicks, impressions, CTR, average position

Each scheduled run appends a new row. After 12 weeks of weekly reports, your Revenue Log has 12 rows of data — one per week. After 6 months of monthly reports, you have 6 data points. Over time, this becomes a rich dataset for spotting trends, seasonality, and growth patterns.

Insights Tab

If your report includes insights (the narrative analysis Squizzie generates), these appear in their own tab as readable text. This gives you a written record of what Squizzie observed about your business each reporting period.

Choosing a Spreadsheet

New Spreadsheet (On-Demand)

On-demand exports always create a new spreadsheet. The title includes your report name and date range, so you can easily find it in your Google Drive later.

Existing Spreadsheet (Scheduled)

Scheduled exports can be configured to append to the same spreadsheet each time. This is how running logs work — the same spreadsheet accumulates data over time.

You can choose an existing spreadsheet in the schedule settings. Squizzie will add new sheet tabs or append rows to existing log tabs as appropriate.

What Happens if the Spreadsheet Is Deleted

If someone deletes the spreadsheet that a scheduled export points to, Squizzie will create a new one on the next run and log a notice so you know. Your schedule won’t break — it just starts fresh in a new spreadsheet.

Formatting

Squizzie doesn’t just dump raw data into cells. The spreadsheets are formatted for readability:

  • Branded headers — Header rows use your Brand Hub primary colour (or Squizzie mulberry if no brand colour is set) with white text
  • Number formatting — Currency values show as currency, percentages show as percentages, dates are formatted consistently
  • Alternating row colours — Light grey alternating rows make large datasets easier to scan
  • Column widths — Auto-fitted to content so nothing is clipped

The result is a spreadsheet you could share with your team or a client without any cleanup.

The Power Move: Connect Your Sheet to AI

This is the part that gets exciting.

Your Squizzie data in a Google Sheet is just structured business data in a format that AI tools can read. Which means you can have a conversation with an AI about your actual business numbers.

How to Do It

  1. Export your report to Google Sheets (on-demand, or use your accumulated scheduled data)
  2. Open the spreadsheet
  3. Share it with ChatGPT (via the data analysis feature), upload it to Claude, or use any AI tool that can read spreadsheet data
  4. Ask questions about your business

Questions You Can Ask

With a few months of accumulated data, try prompts like:

  • “What trends do you see in my revenue vs sessions over the last 6 months?”
  • “Which of my search queries are underperforming given their impression volume?”
  • “Based on my traffic source data, where should I invest my marketing budget?”
  • “My conversion rate dropped in March — what else changed at the same time?”
  • “Compare my Q1 performance to Q4. What should I focus on next quarter?”
  • “Based on my product sales data, which products should I promote more aggressively?”

This effectively turns your Squizzie data into a conversation with an AI business analyst — one that knows your actual numbers, not generic advice.

Why This Works

Most business owners have the data but not the time (or the analytical background) to dig through it. AI tools are excellent at pattern recognition, trend analysis, and asking “have you noticed that…” questions. By exporting your data to Sheets and feeding it to an AI, you bridge that gap.

The more scheduled exports you accumulate, the richer the conversation becomes. A single week’s data gives you a snapshot. Six months of weekly data gives you trends, seasonality, and real strategic insights.

Sharing with Your Team

Google Sheets are inherently shareable. Once your data is in a spreadsheet, you can:

  • Share with your accountant — Give them read access to the Revenue Log tab for a running record of your sales data
  • Share with your ads manager — They can cross-reference traffic source data with ad campaign performance
  • Share with business partners — Read-only access to weekly reports without giving them access to your WordPress admin
  • Embed in presentations — Link to specific charts or tables in Google Slides

Since scheduled exports update the same spreadsheet, anyone you’ve shared it with automatically gets fresh data each time a schedule runs. No need to re-share or send new files.

Common Questions

Do I need to keep the spreadsheet open for scheduled exports to work?
No. Squizzie writes to the spreadsheet via the API. Nobody needs to have it open. The data appears next time anyone opens the file.

How large can the spreadsheet get?
Google Sheets supports up to 10 million cells per spreadsheet. With typical Squizzie exports, you’d need years of daily scheduled exports to approach that limit. You won’t run into size issues in normal use.

Can I edit the exported data?
Yes, it’s your spreadsheet. You can add columns, create charts, add formulas, reformat — whatever you need. Just be careful with running log tabs: if you insert rows manually, the next scheduled append might not land where you expect.

What if I accidentally break the spreadsheet formatting?
Scheduled exports write to specific tabs. If you mess up a tab, you can delete it and the next scheduled run will recreate it with fresh headers and data. Or create a new spreadsheet and update the schedule settings to point to it.

Can I export to Excel instead?
Squizzie exports to Google Sheets. You can then download the Google Sheet as an Excel file (.xlsx) from Google Sheets itself — File > Download > Microsoft Excel. But the live-updating scheduled export feature only works with Google Sheets.

Is my data secure in Google Sheets?
Your data lives in your Google Drive, protected by your Google account security. Squizzie accesses it via OAuth with the spreadsheets scope. Nobody else can see your spreadsheets unless you explicitly share them. When you disconnect Squizzie from Google, it can no longer access your Sheets — though any spreadsheets already created remain in your Drive.
