Privacy & GDPR

Perkie tracks points, tiers, and referrals for your loyalty program. This article explains what personal data is stored, how erasure and export work, and what to include in your privacy policy.

What Data Does Perkie Store?

Perkie stores data tied to each customer’s loyalty activity:

  • Points balance — the customer’s current available points
  • Transaction history — records of every earn and redeem event (amount, reason, date)
  • Tier — the customer’s current VIP tier and progress
  • Referral records — who referred whom, referral links, and conversion status

How Erasure Works

Perkie integrates with the standard WordPress personal data erasure flow:

  1. Go to Tools > Erase Personal Data
  2. Enter the customer’s email address
  3. WordPress sends a confirmation email to the customer
  4. Once confirmed, WordPress runs all registered erasers — including Perkie’s

What Happens During Erasure

Deleted entirely:

  • Points balance
  • Points transaction history (all earn and redeem records)
  • Redemption records

Anonymised (not deleted):

  • Referral records — kept for analytics purposes, but the personal link to the customer is removed

Data Export

Perkie integrates with WordPress’s data export tool:

  1. Go to Tools > Export Personal Data
  2. Enter the customer’s email address
  3. WordPress generates a ZIP file with their data

Perkie exports the customer’s current points balance, VIP tier, and full transaction history.

Automatic Cleanup

When a WordPress user account is deleted, the same erasure process runs automatically. You don’t need to manually trigger it — Perkie listens for user deletion and cleans up its data.

What to Include in Your Privacy Policy

Your privacy policy should mention:

  • Loyalty tracking — customer purchases are tracked to award points and determine VIP tier status
  • Referral program — if enabled, referral links and conversion records are stored
  • Automated tier assignment — customers are automatically placed into tiers based on their activity

Your Data Stays on Your Server

All loyalty and rewards data is stored in your WordPress database on your own server. Nothing is sent to Tracksies, Appsero, or any external service. You have full control over your customers’ data at all times.
