Feature toggle: perkie.review_incentives

Review incentives reward your customers with points for leaving reviews, whether that is a review of something they bought or a review of your store. It’s a straightforward way to build up your review count while giving customers a reason to share their experience.

Perkie works with Trustie Free and Trustie Pro. Trustie collects the review, and Perkie pays the reward. Without Trustie, Perkie can still reward a review left through WooCommerce’s own form when it’s submitted.

Setting Up Rewards

1. Go to Tracksies > Settings > Features and make sure Review Perks is switched on. It starts on.
2. Go to Tracksies > Perkie and click the Tracksies Rewards tab.
3. In the Reviews section, set a points amount on each row you want to use:

– Review submitted: paid when a review comes in, before anyone approves it. Starts at 0.
– Review approved: paid when a review is approved. Needs Trustie. Starts at 0.
– Review milestones: a bonus at set review counts. Starts at 100 points at 5, 10, 25 and 50 reviews.
– Photo review bonus and Photo-review milestones: extra points for reviews with a photo. These rows appear with Trustie Pro’s photo reviews switched on.

1. Save your settings.

Every review reward is points. If you set both Review submitted and Review approved above 0, a customer earns both.

Milestones need two more things

Review milestones count only with Milestone Perks switched on at Tracksies > Settings > Features, which starts off, and with Trustie active. They count approved reviews only, each one once, from the day Milestone Perks is switched on. See Milestone Rewards.

How Customers Receive Their Reward

The reward flow is hands-off once configured:

1. A customer submits a review.
2. If you reward submission, Perkie pays that straight away. Spam and rejected reviews earn nothing.
3. The review goes through your normal approval process (automatic or manual, depending on your Trustie settings).
4. When the review is approved, Perkie pays the approval reward, and the photo bonus if the review has a photo.
5. The points are added to the customer’s balance immediately.

Customers can see what they earned in their My Account > Points & Rewards page, in their points history.

Anti-Gaming Measures

Perkie includes built-in protections to prevent customers from farming rewards:

• One incentive per product per customer, and one for the store. If a customer has already been rewarded for reviewing a product, they will not be rewarded again for that product, even if they edit or resubmit the review. They can still earn on other products they have bought. A review of the store itself has its own separate allowance, and because there is only one store to review, that one is once per customer ever.
• Matched by email address. The reward goes to the customer whose email address is on the review. A review left under a different address, or left anonymously, cannot be matched to anyone and earns nothing. Worth knowing before someone asks you why their points never arrived.
• Spam earns nothing. Reviews flagged as spam, rejected, or binned don’t trigger any reward. If you only want to pay for approved reviews, leave Review submitted at 0.
• Purchase verification. Combined with Trustie Pro’s verified buyer system, you can ensure that only customers who actually bought the product can leave a review, and therefore earn a reward.

These protections work automatically. You don’t need to manually monitor for abuse.

Common Questions

Do existing reviews get retroactive rewards?
No. Rewards are only triggered by reviews submitted or approved after you set them up. Historical reviews aren’t processed.

What if I change the reward amount?
Changes apply to future reviews only. Points already credited aren’t affected.

Can I offer a discount code instead of points?
No. Review rewards are points. Customers can spend them like any other points.

Can I offer different rewards for different products or categories?
Not currently. The reward settings apply globally to all reviewed products. If you want to run a targeted “review this product for a bonus” campaign, consider using Perkie’s bonus points feature alongside review incentives.

Does this work with Trustie Free?
Yes. Trustie Free and Trustie Pro both work with review incentives, including the approval reward and milestones. The photo bonus needs Trustie Pro, because Trustie Pro is what collects review photos.

Where can I see which customers earned review rewards?
Review incentive transactions appear in the customer’s points history on their profile page, and in the Perkie transaction log. Each entry is labelled with the product that was reviewed.
